The Zero Jar was designed in collaboration with ROK at therefore Product Design.
The aim was to design a vacuum sealed jar for coffee bean storage, that used a simple and robust mechanical principle to purge the air from the vessel. This resulted in a plunger style design, using glass reinforced nylon in the lid.
A borosilicate glass body allows for easy visibility of remaining coffee beans, and a rubber foot prevents slipping when purging air from the container.
A groove along the lid allowed for a small label to be added with information about the stored coffee.
